Local cultural celebrations

28th of February: Andalucia Day

19th of March: San José (St Joseph), Patron saint of the village of La Herradura.

April: Holy week with its religious processions and chants. Moors & Christians: the interpretation of the fight between the Moors and the Christians takes place in a few towns in Andalucia during the last weekend of April.

May: The Crosses of May are decorated and exhibited around the old part of the village and the local people dance and set up small bars in the pedestrian streets.

June 23rd.-24th : San Juan (St John) big bonfires and camping are permitted on the beaches just this one night of the year.

July: Celebrations for the Virgin Carmen & Jazz Festival.

August: Celebrations for the Virgin Assumption Maria and its nighttime maritime procession & fireworks. This also the time of the famous Malaga fiestas.

November: Andres Segóvia International guitar contest
